Unlike most so-called direct enrollment programs, the AUCP does not work with « institutes for foreign students » annexed to major French universities. AUCP participants attend classes directly alongside French students.
Reserved for qualified Spring or Full-Year students in Aix, the AUCP direct-enrollment option allows students to select from a wide variety of classes at the Faculté de Lettres of AMU. No audits are permitted, and students enroll in a minimum of two or a maximum of four courses at AMU for the semester.
Qualified Fall, Spring, and Full-year students enjoy the option of enrolling in a course at Sciences Po, one of France’s prestigious grandes écoles. Students choose from a variety of classes in Sociology, Anthropology, International Relations, Political Science, and Finance.
To qualify for Direct Enrollment at either AMU or Sciences Po, students must demonstrate an incoming advanced level in French, corresponding to a minimum of B2 on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) as validated by the TEF (Test d’évaluation de français) which all AUCP students take on the first day of orientation.
Students enrolled in Aix-Marseille Université are encouraged to take advantage of over 50 different sporting activities ranging from archery to modern dance, fencing and karate. Participation is free of charge with their university enrollment and completes the AUCP “personal activity” requirement.
Full year students may be required to return in early January for Fall final exams; in this case, a supplementary housing fee of 25€ per night will be charged for the extended stay.
Registration for university courses takes place on-site, in consultation with the AUCP director. Students wishing to enroll at AMU or Sciences Po should indicate this intention in their application materials.
